Salem, a Permadeath (Hardcore) MMORPG
Paradox Interactive recently announced their up-and-coming title, Salem, which is to be a player-driven game set in a world resembling colonial America with a mystical twist.
Similar to Paradox Interactive's previous MMORPG, Haven and Hearth, you can expect player interaction and politics to be intrinsic to Salem's gameplay. It also features permanent death (permadeath), which means when you die, you die; and you'll have to then create a new character. (Hardcore mode in Diablo II, anyone?)
Salem's world is incredibly realistic as well. EVERYTHING in the world is created and maintained by players, and anything created must be constructed from a finite resource pool. Yes, just like the real world, natural resources such as wood and stone are limited.
